About this book

Psychologist Kris Kelvin arrives at a research station hovering over the ocean-covered planet Solaris and finds it nearly deserted: his mentor is dead, and the two surviving scientists seem to be hiding something. Then Kelvin wakes up next to his wife Harey, who died years ago.

She is not a hallucination. The planet's ocean has produced her from his memories, and the scientists have each been visited by someone of their own. Stanislaw Lem's 1961 novel is a meditation on the limits of human understanding and on contact with something that cannot be understood.
