About this book
In the 2070s, a scientist realises that a sample of tungsten has turned into plutonium that cannot exist in our universe. His discovery leads to the Electron Pump, which gives Earth free and endless energy by trading matter with a parallel universe.
But a young physicist begins to suspect that the Pump is changing the strong nuclear force and making our sun unstable. The book is told in three parts, the second set among the strange three-sexed beings on the other side. Winner of the Hugo and Nebula awards.
