About this book
Thraxas is a heavy-drinking, perpetually broke private investigator in the city of Turai, a former sorcerer, soldier and palace investigator who lost his job because of the drinking. He lives above the tavern of an old friend, a barbarian, with Makri, a young woman who fights for a living and wants to go to the university.
When a case that should have paid the rent goes wrong, he finds himself caught up in a plot involving the highest in the city. A comic, hard-boiled fantasy that won the World Fantasy Award.
